OTAK Online Tuition for Academia and Knowledge is a fully integrated web based online tutoring platform.

OTAK’s innovative online face to face tutoring platform brings professional tutors to the screens of student laptops, desktops or tablets.

OTAK’s platform is supported by built in Calendar & Scheduler tools, Booking System, Personal Finance and Administration folders, Payment System (eWallet), Feedback reports, Messaging functions and Marketing support.

Registration, Login, Tutor Applications and Tutoring Classes for Tutors and Students on the OTAK Platform has been designed for Desktop or Laptops with more than > 1280 resolution. The OTAK Tutoring Platform is optimized for the Desktop or Laptops for best user experience, interface and learning.

The Tutor and Student can only use a Desktop or Laptop to Login and access their respective Portals and Whiteboard to have classes.

The Tutor Portal and Student Portal are not designed to be accessed or used with Smart Mobile Phones at the moment.

Only first-time registration activity can be done on the Mobile Smart Phones.

OTAK is a web-based online system.

Therefore, you can access it from anywhere around the globe if you have a stable internet connection on your device. You can use OTAK 24/7.

Please allow OTAK webpage to use your microphone and camera by clicking on the browser and giving permission. Alternatively, you should check your video and audio settings in your computer.

Fill in your name, email address, h/p number and password. Tick the Terms and Condition box and I’m not a Robot and Click REGISTER

OTAK will send you a Welcome Email with a link to Activate and Login your Account. Then log into your Account to Start Learning

Once your OTAK Account has been Verified, a Student ID and Access Code will be generated automatically by OTAK.

This double code feature autogenerates unique codes that identifies the user.

The Access Code will be required when your parents sign up for the Otak Mobile App. The Student ID will be appearing in all payment documents.

To ensure your safety online, DO NOT share this with unknown or unrelated individuals.

OTAK Parent App is a very useful App that can be downloaded from App Store for iOS and Play Store for Androids.

You can check on Daily Class updates (timing), receive feedback from tutors in Diary, top up OTAK wallet, receive Notification from OTAK (booked and cancelled classes, promotions, downtime and more) and check on Ticket updates

Parent’s can connect with Tutors via Diary

Click the right top dropdown menu near your user email

Click on Edit Personal Info

Select your Education School and Syllabus Type and Personal Data. Click Save Changes

Upload your photo (optional) with a maximum size of 200KB.

Click on FIND TUTOR button

Scroll through the list of tutors or refine your search by clicking the SEARCH button

Click BOOK on Tutor Profile

Select the dates on the Calendar (min 1hr class)

Pay via OTAK’s Wallet

You will receive a NOTIFICATION via Parent App and Student Portal

The daily scheduled classes will appear on your Dashboard as TODAY’S CLASSES

OTAK’S Tutors go through a two-tier screening to ensure the highest quality of tutors.

The selected tutors have vast knowledge and great interpersonal skills with qualifications and experience.

1 OTAK Tutors are given the flexibility to determine their own rates based on their qualifications and level of experience.

2 The minimum rate charged by the Tutor on the OTAK Platform for an hour session is Twenty Ringgit (RM 20).

Therefore your Fee Calculation is

     RM/ per hour session x hours booked

     Note: Bookings must be ≥1 hour

You will be paying your fees via OTAK’s prepaid Wallet.

OTAK wallet is an internal wallet or ledger system that is connected to Billplz that acts as a Payment Gateway

You can opt to top up your wallet via online bank transfer or credit card

1- Click on desired child's name on Dashboard

2- You will be taken to child’s Profile Page

3- Click on Wallet Top Up

4- Select top up amount with a minimum of RM50 to a maximum of RM400

5- Select Payment Gateway

6- Choose your Payment Gateway (eg: Paypal, iPay88, ClicknPay, Paynet)

7- You will be prompted to 3rd party gateway

8- Complete transaction

9- You will receive a Top up Receipt in Accounts

A notification will be sent to the Student Portal and OTAK Parent App (NOTIFICATION)

An email with the booking details will be sent to the registered email

Your Dashboard will be updated daily with Today’s Classes

You can see your scheduled classes in your CALENDAR

Just click on the required date on the Calendar and the list of Subject, Scheduled Time, Duration and Status will be listed

The Student Dashboard and Parent App Dashboard will be refreshed daily with Today’s Classes

Yes you can.

Log into the student portal, then go to My Calendar and click the PDF button, you can download and print the timetable for reference

At the time of the Class, click on "JOIN" beside the Today’s Class on My Dash.

The Whiteboard will be launched

You can attend your online class with your Tutor

Click on FEEDBACK in the Student Portal or Diary on OTAK Parent Mobile App

Search for the completed class

Feedback from your Tutor will be on the top right corner

You can expect your homework in here too

If you/ your parents wish to reply or enquire anything from your Tutor, you can type out a message and click on SEND MESSAGE

You should provide Feedback for your Tutor at the bottom right corner on the same page in the Student Portal. This will help your Tutor’s rating

Click Feedback and choose the class you want to revisit.

Click VIEW CLASS DETAILS

You can revise all the saved whiteboards

Students can communicate with their Tutors via the Feedback Chat

Parents will be able to communicate with Tutors via OTAK Parent App Diary

You should not cancel a class unless it is necessary.

If you can’t make it for class, you should discuss the matter with your Tutor at least 24 hours before the scheduled class.

Then, click on My Calendar and click Cancel class.

Tutor and Student’s upcoming class Notification will be automatically replaced by Cancelled class notification.

Once your order to cancel is approved, your wallet will be topped up automatically.

You can then Rebook a new class on Tutor’s Calendar

If the class cancellation is less than 24 hours, it will be considered a missed class and fees will be charged.

Dissatisfied with your Tutor (no pending classes)

Please Raise a Ticket in Help Center or send an email to admin@otak.my stating what the problem is and how you would like us to help you.

You can choose to change your Tutor for future classes

If you are seeking a refund, OTAK will have to do a due diligence to verify the claim.

Note: . If the Student/Parent claims to have received an unsatisfactory session, they will be required to Raise a Ticket in the “Service desk” about the experience within 48 hours so that OTAK can investigate and take action.

Dissatisfied with your tutor (still have pending paid classes)

Raise a ticket in Help Center or send an email to admin@otak.my or call OTAK at 60323000795 depending on the urgency of the matter.

Eg: If you have class the following day but decided you don’t want to continue with the Tutor, please call OTAK to inform

Note: OTAK will need to further investigate the matter unless there is proof of abuse.

The prerequisite of being an OTAK Tutor is being passionate about education, teaching with great dedication and good interpersonal skills. OTAK goes though a two-tier evaluation system in onboarding our professional Tutors. Having some teaching experience will be a great advantage.

The purpose of this interview is to evaluate the Tutors Persona, Language Proficiency, Confidence and Knowledge.

You should be prepared to allocate 15minutes of your time for the interview.

Make sure you are in a quiet room for better clarity.

You may be asked to describe your past teaching experiences, your teaching techniques, methods of dealing with students/ parents and more.

OTAK Tutor ID is a unique identification code that is generated for every tutor who registers to Create Account on OTAK.

It will be used in all financial documents, class bookings by students and all other admin purposes

You can determine your own Tutoring Rates (with a minimum of RM20/hour) as long as deemed reasonable based on demand, experience and popularity.

You can charge different rates for different subjects/ level/ education/ syllabus as you can update it individually.

Note that OTAK deducts a fee of 15% from the Tutor Fees (Rates Charged) to manage the Online Portal, Mobile App, Cloud Bandwidth Charges, Administration, Financial Charges (Bank/Credit Card), IT Support Operations and Customer Services.

You can update your availability on ‘My Calendar’ in your Tutor Portal.

The minimum duration is 1hour.

OTAK will create a 30mins break in between your offered classes by default to maintain our Tutor efficiency and make provisions for you to submit your Feedback.

You can either update your availability daily or make bulk available slots. Please refer to the Tutor Manual in ‘My Bookshelf’ in your Tutor Portal for more details.

Yes! OTAK’s main advantage is in our hassle free built in Financial Management System.

The Tutor will have real time information on the amount available in their Accounts page, which will include the Bookings details, Accounts and Payment. Bookkeeping services and issuance of payment receipt is built into the system to manage finances easily.

OTAK needs your bank account details so we can bank in your tutoring fees.

Please provide your correct banking details in ‘My Profile’ in your Tutor Portal.

You will be paid your fees within seven days after the last date of each calendar month.

Tuition fees will be calculated from 1st to last date of month. Payment will be transferred to Tutors after deduction of OTAK fee or any refund dues within 7 working days. Say the tutor only started using OTAK on 12/4/2020, the payment will be from 12/4/2020 to 30/4/2020 .

You will be able to retrieve your Payment Voucher via ACCOUNTS in your Tutor Portal.

You will be notified (via NOTIFICATION) immediately once your class slot is booked by a student.

Your Dashboard will be updated with Daily Scheduled classes

Tutors will need to provide Compulsory Feedback to Students after each Session

A Feedback form will pop up on your screen after each class

Tutors can only cancel their availability on their Calendar if there are NO class bookings.

Tutors cannot cancel an already Booked class via their Tutor Portal.

OTAK does not encourage Tutors to cancel their Booked classes.

In case of emergency (valid personal or health reasons) and LESS than 24 hours prior to class, Tutors are required to call OTAK support to notify cancellation so OTAK support can contact the Student and inform them of the cancellation. Tutors will then be required to send an email to admin@otakportal.com with valid reasons/evidence to back up their reason for cancelling.

In case tutor is cancelling MORE than 24 hours prior to class, Tutors are advised to inform Student to cancel the booked class and rebook on a discussed date for replacement.

Note: OTAK will undertake investigations and reprimand the Tutor accordingly if unvalidated cancellation occurs. Any discovery of abuse will also result in immediate suspension or termination of the Tutor’s services on the OTAK Platform.
